Interlaken to Grindelwald

Magnificent. What a day. Started off with a pleasant train ride from Interlaken to Grindelwald, (1034m), followed by a dazzling cable car ride straight up the side of the mountain to First (2168m). The views onto the Streckhorn peaks and glacier took my breath away.


My luck held with the overcast skies not only putting off the snow but also giving us plenty of sun without frying. The ridge walk that I'd set my sights on to Weber Hütte was impassable so I swung to plan B: up to Bucchalpsee (2265m), around the mountain to Bussalp (1792m) then back down to Grindelwald (1034m). However, it seemed the fates had a minor detour in mind...
